You must have been on this earth for at least a half of century – 50 years – and/or have received an AARP card in order to join the Young At Heart (YAH). This very active group of Church members comes together throughout the year for fellowship and fun suitable for mature, seasoned individuals. YAH members attend local shows, enjoy meals at area eateries, complete day trips and travel to far away destinations – in and out of state. We have seen Etta James, a one woman show; eaten at the Sweet Potato Café in downtown Stone Mountain; toured notable civil rights landmarks in Atlanta, including the Civil Rights Museum; visited Fort Valley, Savannah and Myrtle Beach. We host an annual, signature event where we partake of exquisite cuisine and then dance to music that is often imitated (sampled?) but will never be duplicated. We worship as a group at least twice per year, participating in corporate communion. We also participate in various Church activities and offer monetary support to Holy Cross. We provide scholarships to our young people at Holy Cross to assist them with collegiate pursuits.
The Young At Heart meets monthly on the 2nd Saturday of each month, September through June at 1pm in Rhodes Hall. Refreshments are generally served following the meeting. Feel free to contact any member about joining Young At Heart, but only if you’re old enough.
Please contact Michelle Ware or the church office for more information.
